yildiz park | istanbul travel deck, card no. 5

Place: Yildiz Park
Istanbul travel deck, sea & trees

Notes:

Yildiz Park means “star park,” and it might be one of my favorite parks in the world. I was shocked when I first visited. it used to be a garden of the Ottoman palace, and as a result, the architecture and design feels imperial, vast, and yet still with so many pockets of wilderness, abundant wildlife, and silence. in this drawing, I wanted to distill down all the little details that make Yildiz Park itself — grand mosaic pathways, lush Mediterranean trees, little streams and drawstring bridges, glass cafe, intense hills, and a sparkling view of the Bosphorous.

memories: I drew Yildiz Park in late spring, and first discovered it in winter.
