podcast art 2.0 | botanical studies of internet magic

a podcast, (launched) february 2024

so, this week I’ve put on my to-do list: launch the podcast. just do it! without overthinking it too much.

it might be one of those projects that I stay up till 2 in the morning to make the whole technical flow work. and. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t feel anxiety about speaking and sharing my voice in a public way — even if it does come naturally for me.

today I sat down to draw the visual for Episode 1, and ended up with a new podcast album art, pictured above.

here’s the old one, which I drew back in August of last year (5 months ago!?!). that felt like yesterday. but I think I’m a totally different person than I was in August.

I decided to use my new cover — because it feels more spacious, airy, dreamy — which is how I want the internet to feel — whereas my previous cover art felt too literal, too dense, a little too crowded with things. some part of me craved more negative space.

I kept the bird and the doors because (a) I love the symbolism of birds, I’ve been feeling the urge to draw them (b) the doors are a metaphor I use to represent how I feel about world-building on the internet.

to be continued… very soon!
