in the mood for movement

sometimes you get tired of walking, and you’re in the mood to travel on wheels, and pedal — preferably with the clickety-click sound to accompany the act of movement. I haven’t owned my own bike since I was eight years old. I’m not sure I really need a bike — though it’s very much a favored way of transport in berlin — maybe I just want a basket that moves, so that I can carry roses and peonies in it. maybe I just want to change cities and places; I just want it to feel like spring. my most vivid memories of biking lately: riding 45 minutes up a winding insane hill to reach the sea of japan, last spring, with my friend karen — and I rode her mommy-bike. we biked through a long stretch of flower-less sakura trees that made me feel like I was in athens, in sunshine, under the shimmering olive trees. the world looks different on bike, as it does by car, by train, by air, on foot. is there any relationship between the speed at which you travel & the speed of thoughts? anyway - today I was in the mood of bicycles, and so I drew one for my own monday pleasure.
