birthday flowers

normally I don’t draw flowers, but my dear friends from New York sent me these for my birthday (it was in November) — and they arrived three weeks late. a German delivery man in a neon green vest carried them up four flights of stairs, and told me to hold them tight; they’re heavy. they looked wild and jungly when they arrived. this week they are in full bloom. I wanted a reason to stare at them for an hour, so, that’s why. I drew them.
