PTSD - Mental Landscapes Series
I saw PTSD described as being stuck in a moment in time-- in which unforeseen triggers could lead one back to the cavern of that initial traumatic moment. I thought about images of swamps, quicksand, or something involving an underground pit. My first draft was just of a crack in the ground, but I got the feedback that it was too easily misconstrued for other conditions. So instead, I came up with something more like a bridge-structure, with cracks representing that feeling of falling back into trauma.
