There is something deeply wrong with the way that our culture sees art. If we respect art, we tend to see it as an inaccessible luxury. The more esoteric and obscure the art, the better, because it means that we can put it on a pedestal. Only the ones with money, class, cultural sophistication, or irreverent coolness can climb this pedestal and claim that they understand it.
