Inspiration Log: mountain photos, Hope Gangloff's portraits, a Rilke quote, and a very sensual logotype
Inspiration log is my weekly collection of 5 things that have touched me creatively.
1) Mountain photos
In a few weeks, I'll be leaving for a month-long, cross-country road trip from New York to Seattle. Maybe this is why I've been drawn to photographs of mountains. I made a Pinterest board of my favorite landscape shots.
2) Hope Gangloff's portraits
I discovered Hope Gangloff's work a few months ago, and fell in love with her gritty, Egon Schiele-esque portraits. I keep coming back to these as inspiration for my own illustrations. Well, my friends are not so moody looking.
3) This quote by Rainer Maria Rilke
I originally saw this quote on the blog of my good friend's mother, who is a life coach and has helped me a lot in my own creative journey. I'm going through several big transitions right now with my career and personal life, so I do have moments where I feel very strange. This quotes reminds me to stay calm and hold on.
4) A sensual logotype from 1962
Perhaps one of the most beautiful, sensual logotypes I have ever seen. This is from the book Thinking with Type by Ellen Lupton. I love the curving details and the suggestive roundness of the O.
5) Painting Greys by Emmit Fenn
I guess I'm still in my electronica phase (is it a phase?) because I discovered this song last week and listened to it 30 times on repeat while sitting alone, eating an afternoon snack at Whole Foods.
